Call for Proposals opens TNC17 Conference

Abstracts should be about 1200 words (two A4 pages). These may include future work that is expected to produce results in the first half of 2017

We invite you to submit a proposal (single presentation or full session) for TNC17, the leading networking conference for research and education in Europe. The theme of TNC17 is 'The Art of Creative Networking'. The conference will be held from 29 May - 2 June 2017 in Linz, Austria, organised by GÉANT and hosted by the Austrian Academic Computer Network (ACOnet).

Deadline for submission (presentation and session proposals) is 30 November 2016. 
 

NOTE: In order to submit your abstract you will first have to login to the website. The website uses federated login, which means that we do not provide usernames/passwords any more; instead you can log in using your own institutional account. If your institution is not listed, you can use one of the guest providers such as Google, Yahoo!, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn etc.


All proposals must be submitted in English, the official language of the conference, and should be on subjects relevant to the spirit and objectives of the conference: to present, discuss and learn about the latest developments in networking technology and its uses in the research and education community. The topics described below are an indication of the scope of the conference, but are not meant to be restrictive.



The Art of Creative Networking
Linz is home of the famous Ars Electronica festival for art, technology and society since 1979 and, since 2014, is one of the UNESCO Cities of Media Arts. This connection to the arts is why we have selected the theme of creative networking for TNC17. Networking is much more than just the physical network and the work of the NREN community has expanded over the years to provide innovative services across society, serving all scientific disciplines. Our communities are not only using the network to be creative and support creative arts, but also have to be creative in the way technologies are deployed.  Technical innovation can often move faster than society, but the constant changes provide opportunities for inventive, resourceful and visionary solutions. 
 

TNC17 will address creativity across many different themes including quantum technology, uses of big data, moving beyond traditional networking and the impact of innovation on life.  We will look at ways in which creative solutions have been found to practical needs as well as the many ways in which technology has advanced our enjoyment and understanding of the arts. 
 
 

With the TNC17 Call for Proposals we invite you to be creative: 

  • How is the networking community serving and working with arts and humanities /  creative communities?
  • How are we using creativity to provide smart networking in challenging environments? 
  • How do we balance creativity and security?
  • Networking for disruption: is disruptive innovation a benefit or hindrance?
  • Permission to fail: have you tried out a theory or a new solution and it didn’t work. Why? Are you willing to share?

  • Demonstrations - companies or projects wishing to participate should submit their proposal before 15 January 2017
